Welcome to MathQuest ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the MathQuest mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and display name (username). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name and email.
- Learning data: We store your lesson progress, quiz scores, XP points, streaks, and completed lessons to personalise your experience.
- Usage data: We track which lessons you start and complete, and how many lessons you use each day (for the free daily limit and subscription enforcement).
- Subscription data: If you subscribe to MathQuest Premium, billing is handled by the respective app store (Google Play). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your payment card details.
- Device information: We may collect general device information (OS version, app version) for bug-fixing and analytics purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To track and display your learning progress, XP, and streaks
- To enforce the free daily lesson limit and premium subscription access
- To send transactional emails such as email address verification
- To improve the App through anonymised usage analytics
- To provide customer support when you contact us
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which provides industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We apply Firestore security rules so that each user can only read and write their own data. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
MathQuest uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database (firebase.google.com/support/privacy)
- Google Sign-In — optional social login (policies.google.com/privacy)
- Google Play Billing — subscription payments (policies.google.com/privacy)
5. Children's Privacy
MathQuest is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verified parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
